Kinda abandoned posting on LJ...sorry. But don't expect that to change really.

Finals were busy busy busy! Got done on the 11th. Only got my last grade a few days ago. Did much better than I expected to do: 2 A's and 3 A-'s, so lower than my average GPA prior to this semester, but not enough to drop it that much.

Home, hurrah! Helped put up Christmas decorations! Played lots with my kitty! Brother got home yesterday after ignoring my mom's calls/e-mails for a week. Nice and rested and already read a good three books (as I feel the need to catch up from not being able to get much fun reading done during the semester).

Need to start cleaning much ignored parts the house now and get the rest of my laundry done. Mostly because I'm actually having a small party on my birthday...because it's my 21st and damn if I'm getting drunk with my family!

Also, drunk group gaming=WIN!

Also planning on seeing Sherlock Holmes on my birthday...just because going to the theater to see a movie is now a standing birthday tradition.

Nose is all stuffed up due to me being allergic to both the cat and dog, but whatever.

And yeah. That's it.

My Head Hurts...

Haven't updated...haven't really had time, nor have I wanted to. Been reading my f-list though, soooo....eh.

Thanksgiving was eh...got to see my kitty and laugh at all the stuff my youngest brother's been up to (he's first trumpet in Jazz band and 8th grade band even though he's only a 7th grader, which it the gifted program's hardest year next to Junior year of HS). Had some turkey, watched some football with the family (even though I'm not a fan of it). Mostly tried to watch what I ate as I haven't really lost anything this school year (unlike years past where I shed pounds at school).

Family got a Blu-Ray player on Black Friday.

OMG! BluRay+Netflix=SO MUCH JOY!!!

...instant movies and tv shows (mostly old movies, but a number of current tv shows, which surprised me), but all free and as many as I want and OMG! love love love! (mostly because I love movies too much anyways.) Started rewatching Dead Like Me and plan on continuing as soon as the semesters over.

Speaking of this semester...surprised I'm not dead yet! This week has been and will continue to be hell. Next week (finals week) looks just as grim, though I have more time to get shit done because there are no classes, so yay!?

I should be doing a 10 page paper that's due Thursday that I haven't started, but eh...it's one of those I'll want/need to work on in one shot for it to make any sense, and I don't feel like dong the whole thing tonight, so I'm putting it all off for tomorrow. I'm prepared for an all nighter.

Only final I'm excited for? My Drawing 1 final project! It's the first final, so our teacher's letting our class's projects be smaller than his other class (so, only 48" compared to being as big as you are, no joke). Basically he told us to find a sketch from our sketch book, use observation and imagination along with at least two materials and methods explained in class and have fun.

I'm using my raven sketch (see icon). Decided it should be a bunch of ravens playing with a ribbon in the forest. So it's whimsical! But then I decided the ribbon should be connected to something...a dead body that's only slightly seen at the very bottom of the paper! So it's morbid!

I told the teacher I'm aiming for whimsical and morbid! He just kinda went "Ok, that might work," and walked away. Which either means he trusts me or he thinks I'm crazy....or both...probably both, as nothing I've done before has shown this morbid side but he's liked most everything I've done.

And omg, this post has been so ramble-ly. That what comes of my head wanting to explode I guess....damn sinuses....

Right...off for some me time in the mist of hell...

Know I haven't updated for a while...this semester has been busy to say the least.

How the fuck there's less than a month left boggles my mind...

Anyways. Last Saturday I helped put on a Murder Mystery Dinner after being drafted last minute. It went well, considering none of the majors were actors (and the third most important character had to be replaced for a different actor 2 days before hand...Anthony, you rock, you really do!). About half the guests figured out who the killer was, BUT half of those had cheated because a script somehow got left out.

...I was shit tired after that...I was a server and I was keeping track of times, giving people their cues. I didn't get to sit the entire 3 hours of the event, and that was after setting up for a good few hours before hand!

Classes are still chaos. I'm only this weekend getting a chance to PICK OUT a topic for the last of my 10 pages research papers (there's three of them this semester). Luckily, this teacher doesn't want lots of sources...really. Maximum of three outside of the class textbook...no, really. Doesn't boggle my mind as much because my midterm I wrote the night before ended up being around 9 pages anyways...so I know I can BS a History of Anthropological Theory (yeah...sounds like the fun-est class ever, right?).

...just trying to survive my classes right now, which includes actually getting to each class...I have skipped SO damn much this semester...except for my art class, which has required attendance. At this point, I'll be happy with B's in most of my classes.

Anyways, this weekend is my induction into Golden Key (hurrah for shit that makes me look good), and lots of work.

Next weekend is Japanese club's SSMB tournament and Anime club's Maid Cafe, both of which I'll be working, along with even more school work! Then Thanksgiving break, followed by a week of hell and then finals (finals look like they will not be as bad as the week before finals, considering I only have one no notes final, one final with notes that the teacher gives us the questions to before hand, one final art project, one written final, and turning in one of the research papers [which is already half done]).

Yeah...THEN WINTER BREAK AND CHRISTMAS AND MY 21ST!!!

YAY! HALLOWEEN!!!

...anyways...being a Zydrate Addict this year. I had introduced a number of friends to Repo! last year. A group of them thought it'd be fun to dress up as the cast for Halloween...

They all insisted I join and wanted me to be Graverobber.

I had no cash...so I raided my closet and decided that I could only really pull of a background character like a Zydrate Addict.

...it's a rather skimpy costume, to say the least...

Did laundry, now relaxing. Probably take a nap because I plan on being up late. Shower later, then into costume. Hang with some friends and then go to the Anime Club party. Leave that early...

Was meant to go to another Halloween Party tonight, but my roomie and I got talked into joining some other acquaintances in going to a Rocky Horror midnight event. I've not seen all of Rocky Horror. But I know enough to change parts of my Zydrate Addict costume so I am not mauled at the event (for while some people like both, I have a feeling some Rocky Horror goers don't appreciate Repo! fans at their event).

And then I come back to my dorm to pass out and wake up to a shit ton to do tomorrow...(multiple art projects for Monday as well as a test and the need to at least start research for 2 of my 3 papers for this semester).

so, yeah...

First week I don't have a test/paper or an art project to do?

Need to do research for multiple papers and do Japanese Horror week...yup...

Changed my layout to a generic LJ one. I liked it, but needed an icon to match.

I made one. Raven's an ink drawing I did (REALLY) from my brother's picture of one of the ravens that followed me around at Yellowstone. (See my DA for the whole picture!) And the fireworks I used for cheesy background texture were from pictures I took last 4th of July.

It's not the best, but it makes me happy and matches the layout....so, it stays! XP

Dollhouse tomorrow. Followed by a weekend of debauchery with my roomies!

...so, my roomies and I had told each other we'd work out together this year.

...wasn't really happening. We all have a number of time consuming classes this semester, so it was hard to make times to go to the gym together.

Without buddies, I'm not a gym person. Hell, even with buddies, I'm still wary of gyms.

...then my roomie had an idea.

BUY A WIIACTIVE!!!

OK! So we can work out in our room whenever we want/have free time.

...yeah...

OMG! THE WIIACTIVE IS TRYING TO KILL ME!

I worked out yesterday and OMG SOOOOO MANY SQUATS! my legs are all jacked up. I can barely walk down the stairs and I keep almost tripping when walking.

But despite that, I worked out on it again today. Happily, no squats in today's work out but the lunges were still no fun. Only worked out because I'm stubborn...and had free time.

Sooooooo....been busy and slightly sick and such.

Taking three 300 level classes and an art class and another random 200 level class...not the best planning on my part.

IT'S LIKE BEING BACK IN THE ACADEMY!

Sort of anyways...

All three of the upper levels have 10 page research papers to be done in them. Have ideas for two, and only one of those two do I have any research in.

...rough drafts are due for both next week!

Drawing 1 is fun but time consuming...though it makes me kinda glade I'm dropping the chemistry minor for an art minor! Chemistry was time consuming and tedious and not interesting enough to make up for the fact!

I should have some...well, one, of my class works up on DA soonish...maybe...

On top of being busy with art and midterms and papers, club stuff has also been busy and stressful. Stressful for Japanese club board members anyways (one of my roomies and myself). Yeah...

And then there's actually having a social life this semester! That bits fun even if it does take up time I could be using for other things.

...here's to this weekend! Yes, I have stuff to do, but some of it's happy fun stuff!

GO AND SEE ZOMBIELAND!!!

Just do it! It was amazing! Right amount of gore, with a splattering of different comedy! And a handful of more serious moments.

Went to an advanced screening last night...and by advanced I mean 4 and a half hours before it actually came out in Chicago.

Dressed as a ZOMBIE. My friends and I were originaly going to go to the Navy Pier advanced showing where you HAD to be dressed to get in. Changed our minds because we didn't want to do the zombie walk in the rain. At the theater we ended up at we were the ONLY zombies.

The theater people were beyond happy. They kept snapping pictures at our lame zombie costumes. And we got bumped to the front of the line of 200+ people.

Being a zombie pays.

And it's funny watching people watch you as you ride the subway, lol!

So, right.

GO SEE ZOMBIELAND!!!

And hurrah for start of fall break today!

Roomies are a blast!

Classes are eh...taking three 300 levels (all with 10 page reports to be done in them) and an art class, so actually have school work this semester! (unlike past semesters where I cruised through almost everything...Chinese and that second semester of orgo being the deviants)

lots of clubs stuff going on! Getting things done for Japanese club! HURRAH for spending the school's money for onigiri!

annnnnnnd, I follow too many websites. Really. Gave up on Twitter...it's just too much!

Also, need books. Hoping my family will send me whatever they've been reading sometime soon!

And, omg, I have sooo much shit! I think it looks like more because of the 27 inch tv and tv stand I'm bringing, but jesus! AND, I'm pretty much bringing slightly less then I did last year, which is kinda sad.

So excited to see my roomies and my friends at Loyola! And I've already been introduced to s few new people this summer, so hurrah!

Eh, Back to Life...

soooo....

I was sick a few days ago. And not in a nice way. While my family all got over it in a day, it took me 4 and a half...needless to say I got little done. Playing catch up now...though i have the feeling I'm forgetting something...

Anyways, my oldest younger brother took off for college today. He's in the band and thus moves in early. Here's to hoping he doesn't do anything stupid...

My roomies for this year are all already moved in, so don't have to worry about multiple people moving into one room at the same time. Think I'll have a blast with these girls!

Mostly packed myself, even though I don't move in until Sunday. Just want to be prepared, especially since I'm babysitting Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. My grandma that lives with me is taking off back to work and my parents and other grandparents are taking off to California for my great grandfather's funeral...his death was both unexpected and expected. I've gotten over it all now, though I'm sad I can't make it out to the funeral. Too close to school and they couldn't have it any earlier (even thought he died early last week).

...well, being sick has been good for one thing. I couldn't eat for three whole days and lost some of the weight I put on over summer! YAY cloths fitting!!!

Not So Summer Days And A Dog

weather's been eh until the past few days. hasn't felt like summer, even though it's almost gone.

finally started some reading. which is good. been meaning to all summer.

got my bill for next semester. it's the lowest its ever been...which is good because the elder of my two younger brothers is starting college this year too, so we have two tuitions to pay for!

watching the neighboorhood kids play with a nameless dog my family took in for a few days...hopefull there'll be room for him at the kennel tonight.

he's a boxer mixed with American bulldog...so, boxer body with a cute smiling bulldog head. the humane society picked him up from his home, with the fucking owner kicking this poor dog. he's only ever lived outside, no training. and we think he lived on gravel...his feet sure suggest he did and he seems to love the dirt.

anyways...humane society had no room for him. they called the kennel my brother works at (after a few other kennels). they had no room. my brother said he'd take him in for the weekend to save him from being put down. so my brother had in brought to the kennel and washed him 3 times over...though he's still fairly dirty, telling you how bad he was when he got picked up! and the my brother brought him home in a kennel crate.

he's soooo sweet. hardley barks and gets along fine with our dog (who, oddly, isn't being the bitch she normal is to dog being in her backyard). dog seems mesmerized by the cat in the house.

but the cat...

Boots literally ran and jumped at the dog the first time he came into the house, hissing and spitting and ready to tear the dog to peices. Boots watched the dog from the door, tail poofed. he even sat at the garage door listening to the dog in there. Boots has gone as far as attacking the glass window in attempts to getting the dog.

i find it all amusing, though i do feel sorry for Boots. he only barely tolerates our dog Blue anyways.

i'd almost think we'd keep the dog, if it weren't for: 1) we said no more dogs after Blue (now 10 years old) passes, and 2) my youngest brother seems even more allergic to this dog than our current (though i am equally allergic to both).

this doesn't bother me though. the way he's acting, and how well he gets along with kids, and how young he is (only 2), and the very look of him means he should find a home fairly quickly. or so i hope!

and that's been all really...yeah. my life isn't all the exciting...lol!

omfg! saw No Doubt in concert Saturday night!

AHHHH! was fucking awesome! 9th row tickets (just off center) in a crowd of 20,000+ people...EPIC WIN!!! and it was my little brother's first rock concert, so that was fun.

got a tote bag and a poster (rather than a shirt) from the concert. opening bands were good too, though i only knew the one.

WHY, DAMN YOU, WHY!?!?!?!

so, you know how my macbook pro died a few months back?

now the battery seems to be gone. it's not charging. everything i tried isn't working.

you'd think when i had gotten everything fixed they'd give me a new battery since mine was alittle screwy back then too.

but no!

and it'd cost me $130 i don't have to get a new one. i admit, i'm fine using my laptop as a desktop (plugged in all the time), but buying a back up cord would also cost a pretty penny at $80.

....this sucks...

macbook, i bought you to be problem free...why do you hate me so?!?!?!

so, yeah. went off on family vacation back on the 11th. got back late tuesday evening. been chilling and unpacking and resting...high altitudes+asthma+sinus problems from multiple storms=no fun for Jackie when trying to do some hiking in lovely Yellowstone...i had never been before!

also so the Badlands, Devil's Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave, and Cody before actually making it to Yellowstone.
...and suffered through TWO blown tires on my grandfather's 5th wheel (along with his annoying as hell conservative talk radio!)!

but over all was a nice trip! i enjoyed myself even though i'm still tired as hell!

saw lots of wild life: different deer, pronghorned antelope, elk, lots of bison (babies were cute!), osprey (saw one nesting), bald eagles (also saw one nesting), different hawks, a coyote, a fox, a black bear (a little too close for comfort, but cool none the less!)...

....and many many ravens...one followed our car, one let me close while fleeing from my brother, one was waiting on my grandfather's truck after a hike (and his friend came along once i got there), another waiting near our car after Old Faithful, another waiting behind our car after a gift shop, and one circling me while waiting for my dad to get back from a short (but really steep) hike...along with many other sightings...

i swear the ravens were stalking me! as does my family! but since i like them it was okay, but my family bought me a joke gift of a stuffed raven...he'll be joining me at college this fall.

also saw rescued grizzlies and wolves at a center.

and then came home sick of being on the road!

only got a few things...the coolest being the $38 moose antler hair clip in the shape of a feather...which was bought which neither mine nor my family's money but was a free gift because we had connections in the park.

but yeah...time to rest...

and watch True Blood! OMG! the first two episodes have been great! very different from the book series, but only because all the side stories are developed (as are the side characters) which make it soooo much funnier and darker! ah! can't wait for sunday!

right.

now to shower and continue doing things i'm meant to be doing...

updating because i haven't in a very long time...

school been done and out. one B, one A-, rest all A's.

then came ACen. was so happy to see Becky, Rath, and Jennifer there!

came home sick from ACen. slowly worked on my room. it's now pretty much done...just need to vac!

spent the last three days at home waiting for Fed-X to show up with my oldest younger brother's new horn. they finally showed up today late afternoon! the horn is very shiny and pretty! here's to him not ruining it!

now to be whirled away in stuff for said brother's high school graduation! today was his last day so we got his car with window chalk...and then two girls we both went to elementary school with!

after graduations all done, the Yellowstone trip starts on the 11th...so no stopping!!!

apart from that, summer plans include: getting a job (which looks highly unlikely as no one seems to want to take me to get the applications, though they all yell at me about getting a job...), getting my driver's license (even though i hate driving), and painting a picture my mom wants done of our new cat to go with the one i painted of our last cat.

been home three weeks....farthest i've gotten is to choose what picture i'm using for the painting... -_-'

so, yeah...

...oh, being called to help with new shelves. did i mention i also have to help with redoing a room in the house? yeah, and that has to be done BEFORE Yellowstone...fun fun fun!!!

literally 2 minutes after that last post, the website worked...

got my classes, though not all the ones i wanted and only after fighting with it a few times to get it to work.

however, before signing up for classes the website said i needed certain classes for my major. signed up for them. checked requirements again....they weren't listed. and the damn thing wasn't showing my elective on my classes (though the separate enrollment list says I'm in it)...omg, so confused! especially since the website's list is different than the anthropology department's list, which is different than the list i got freshmen year from my counselor...wtf?

...going to have to e-mail someone this summer...just who though is the question...(i don't have a counselor in the anthro department, for some strange reason)

...uh! massive sinus headache!!! want to sleep...waiting on club stuff...gah!

i hate this week...and next is finals week, so no fun there! only good thing is that i only really have 3 real finals this semester! my other two classes (lab is not a class!) either: don't have a final (as the class is 4 tests, the lowest one gets dropped) or have a "final" that is worth the least amount of points for anything in the class (basically, to get you to show up for the last days of class, which is group presentations).

...still waiting....*sigh*

i hate my school...not the teachers....love my anthro teachers and the program to death...but i hate the school...

SEVEN minutes until i need to sign up for classes (noon), and the website to do so won't load...sometimes i get error pages, othertimes the connection drops, other times NOTHING shows up....

you would think the school, forcing us to use the damn site for classes, would make sure it wouldn't overload when everyone needs to sign up, wouldn't you?

nope....

6 minutes now.

also, forced to drop my chemistry minor, because they only have one class of 50 for a required class all major and minors need to take...yup....

got on the website finally...dragging like hell....AND IT KICKED ME OFF, WTF?!?! "Server Down" My ASS!!!

4 minutes to go....

I hate this school....I really do.....

cutting all types of classes....German was a major two years ago...now it's not even a minor....
